AeroVironment $ Contract for the Portuguese Army to Procure Raven Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The contract award encompasses the procurement of Raven™ unmanned aircraft systems equipped with Mantis i23 sensors and pocket Video Terminals (p/RVT) to the Portuguese Army, together with delivery scheduled within a three-year period.

“AeroVironment’s buff unmanned aircraft system, equipped with our Mantis i23 gimbaled sensor suite and pocket Video Terminal, packs significant capabilities into a portable, man-packable platform for operations in austere environments around the world,” stated Kirk Flittie, vice president and general manager of AeroVironment’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems business. “Our little UAS deliver situational awareness to frontline warfighters in a portion of the procurement and lifecycle cost of UAS that are larger. The Raven program will provide interoperability capabilities with NATO forces in addition to the Portuguese Army with quick and effective force protection , supporting coalition assignment integration. ”

Cranfield University, westfield Autonomous Vehicles and Harper Adams University will operate together and tackle a project aimed at moving technology.  The AirPOD will utilise the most recent technology in directing sensing in the form of mild weighting structures , bio-composite substances, autonomous control and a battery for both technology and navigation.
